Loading the Game –

Three versions of the game are included:
– boomrang.wav, a cassette-tape recording of the original game;
– boomrang_fix.wav, a cassette-tape recording of the original game with bug fixes;
– boomrang.dsk, a floppy disk image of the translated, fixed version game.
(In the original listing, the wrong command is used for getting directional input, making it impossible to move or jump.)

For boomrang.wav and boomrang_fix.wav:
– After booting the machine, insert the tape image;
– Type ‘CLOAD’ and press Enter;
– After the game loads, type ‘RUN’ and press Enter to star the game.
For boomrang.dsk:
– Insert the disk image in the first slot, then boot the machine;
– The game should load and start automatically.

Game Instructions –

When starting the game, you’ll be prompted to select your joystick; the choices are as follows:
– 0 = Keyboard (cursor keys + Space)
– 1 = Joystick port 1
– 2 = Joystick port 2

Move and jump with the directional buttons and throw your boomerang with Space.
Hit the flying seagulls while avoiding the crayfish; you cannot move while jumping or while your boomerang is mid-air.
You get more points for hitting seagulls while your boomerang is returning to you.

Article Translation –
Tsujī Kouji

Seagulls fly in from the eastern sky. Move the person and knock down the gulls with your boomerang. Be careful, however, as there are crayfish wandering around below.

How to Play

After RUNning, select your preferred joystick number(JOY) from 0 to 2 and press Return; if you choose JOY number 1, use the left and right buttons to move, up to jump and the trigger button to throw the boomerang. Be wary that you cannot move for as long as you’re jumping or your boomerang is flying.
The crustaceans get faster at 300, 600 and 1000 points. If you get attacked 4 times, it’s game over. The score for hitting one seagull is 10 points if you hit it on the first half of the boomerang’s trajectory, or 20 points if you hit it on the second half.

Editor: The level of these MSX programs is getting higher and higher, it’s great to see! It makes me look forward to every new issue.
Dr. D: That’s not all! These flowcharts and variable tables are very useful for checking.
Editor: That’s right, so if you’re ever going to contribute your own programs, please include a flowchart (for clarifying the program’s flow) and a variable table whenever possible!
