C.G. Gal Picture-Matching Puzzle
THE 29

FOR PC-8001, mkII / 8801, mkII N-BASIC
BY Yoichi Ozaki

How to Play

When you RUN it, first, a C.G. (Computer Graphic) appears on the screen. Hmm, C.G. on a PC-8001…? How strange. Just as you’re thinking that, you realize this is a proper puzzle.

Let’s not debate tastes in illustration and just praise the courage it took, as the late Coo used to say (though Coo is still alive and working hard elsewhere). Plus, it’s a puzzle, so let’s have a round of applause!

According to the author, if you view it on a home TV, it might blend a bit and look prettier…

Now, once the picture appears, if you press any key, a black square (which is essentially a blank) will move on its own and start messing up the picture. If you just watch this random work, it will become impossible to fix, so press ANY KEY at an appropriate time, and the picture will stop scrambling, and the game will start.

Use the ②, ④, ⑥, and ⑧ keys to move the black square up, down, left, and right, and I want you to rearrange it back to how it was. When you move the black square up, the tile that was above it moves into the spot where the black square was. It’s a system like that. I think it would be good to think of it like that famous 15-puzzle.

If you want to see the original picture, you can press the ⑤ key to see it for a short time.

When you’re finished, press the Return key.

Author’s Bio –

Yoichi Ozaki, the big brother who is a university student in Nagoya.

“I’m 21 this year. In these scary times of Technopolis’s readers getting younger and myself getting older, I’ve now bought a PC-6001mkII.

Lately, when I read Technopolis, everyone is a middle or high school student. Even Mr. Jamamori and Yoko-san are 30 years old (Editor’s note: That’s wrong! What a rumor…).”
