Courtesy of atrocity3010, here are all the differences they were able to spot:

The startup sequence fades from the title screen to itself repeatedly. Normally it shows a high score table. as well as a demo of the Level 1.

Normal is misspelled “Noroal” in the options screen. That difficulty also seems to match up with the hardest difficulty — pro mode —in this prototype.

The homing missiles are significantly slower in the prototype compared to retail.

Stage 5 soft locks after you complete it. Normally there is a cinematic sequence as you transition to Stage 6, where you can’t move. But in the prototype, you can move. When the screen goes to transition to Stage 6’s space background, the game soft locks. The game also soft locks after you exhaust your continues.

The lives/bombs/credit option allows for different values in the prototype.

Invulnerability can be obtained during any stage by chance — or possibly by dying. We’re unsure whether this is a bug or is intentional.

If you can spot any other differences that we may have missed, let us know!
