From what I can recall on the Fire Emblem 6 project, we ended up with a
lack thereof concerning cavespeak because we skipped around replacing
the japanese font and just inserted an english font around it.
Probably would have made my life slightly easier when searching for things, though...

It's not exactly a stellar example, but...
This
game is called Dark Lord. If you look at the signs on the left, you can
see a sample of cavespeak. Here's what it looks like, approximately,
when fixed....
You'll
notice that I had to resize some of the signs to fit the translated
text in. That happens. Being able to do something like that's an often
necessary skill

Neato, thanks for all the help Gideon Zhi.
Anyway, now I must be off for the night. Speak to you all later.

Here is my boxout explanation on the technical side of translating.
It's
about 30 words more than I wanted it to be, so I really don't want to
add too much more (taking away would be great though!). Basically it's
for the average reader out there, so they can get a quick grasp on how
things happen. So I tried to keep it simple.
Additional info like cavespeak will be shown via screenshots.
Is it accurate, broadly speaking? By all means, feel free to alter and improve it.
I value your thoughts.

Sure thing, thanks.
Also,
for the 5 important/interesting translations, I've decided to cover D's
Heroine Anthem. I know it's not finished, and some may decry the lack
of FFV in the list, but I think it's unusual enough (Taiwanese PC game)
to warrant a mention. Plus there's quite a bit of Square/Enix coverage
in the main pages.
I may get this beast done before the weekend at this rate!

Does anyone think d4s (of BoF2 fame) will mind me using this image of his?
It's from his page here: http://bof2.blogspot.com/
I would of course put some such as "Courtesy of Germany's BoF2 fan-translator", since I'm not sure how to contact him.
I
like it, because it looks unashamedly geeky. A modded SNES, with custom
flashcart that has a board hanging out, with monitor and Sattelview
also being visible. I mean, compositionally, I love it.
My other
idea was to use some generic image of an SFC with disk based copier
sticking out the top, to show the whole technical ROM dumping aspect,
especially since I know that some people still use these devices to
play translated games on original hardware.
Unless anyone wants
to post up a photo of all their technical gear assembled closely
together. Something to impress the readers who have never seen this
stuff before. And yeah, I realise I'm a bit guilty of over-embellishing
the stuff I cover.

Interesting. I'll omit all imagery/captions of such gear then.
Should
be handing it in tomorow. My only regret is not having been able to
mention all these great games as much as I'd like to. I really wanted
it to celebrate the work done by you guys, since you've brought me and
many others, many hours of happy gaming time as a result.
So much content, so little space/time!
